After much internal debate we have decided to end Campaign 178 after only a few days and to call the Campaign a draw. Read inside for details behind this decision. Also announcing a new Commander in Chief for the Axis side - Shagher. Read also about game changes to this intermission.
Campaign 178
We made the difficult decision to end Campaign 178 and call the Campaign a draw. We have switched the server to intermission mode until the hotfix is deployed later this week (see the notes below about this intermission). This decision was not made lightly and CRS accepts responsibility for this hiccup. We deployed our last patch with some bugs in it. Specifically we experienced huge increases in CTD's (crash to desktop) due to some terrain upgrades we unrolled that ended up over taxing people's CPU's. Secondly we must have got a load of bad fuel because the DB7's wouldn't start so we had to pull them from supply. We rushed the last patch partially due to the upcoming holidays and the Welcome Back Soldier event. We are determined to get this right and get a fix out as soon as we can.
In the meantime, enjoy a couple days of intermission!
Intermission Changes in Play
INTERMISSION SETTINGS
This intermission is not traditional, as we will be testing with limited supply the effects of an updated trickle timer for Garrisons.
What does that mean?
Normally it takes 60 minutes (1 hour) to receive full supply at a new Garrison. Our changes, reflected in this intermission, has changed that number for180 minutes (3 hours) with 20 slices of supply coming in during that time (or some supply every 9 minutes). This is intended to slow down massive offensives but also make counter attacks more viable. Attackers will want to watch out and keep a closer eye on their towns instead of abandoning them and going onto the next thing.
And of course if you've just lost that town, you should test doing a counter attack and let us know how it goes, we're hoping counter attacks become a routine thing again in WWII Online!
Garrison supply is a bit limited more than normal during intermission, but brigades are using regular campaign settings. Try smashing through with some brigades and see what the results are.
Welcome Shagher as new Axis CinC
We wanted to welcome the new Axis Commander in Chief - Shagher. He is no stranger to the game having served in the Axis Senior Command for many years. Shagher has appointed KardeHK as his Chief of Staff and retiring CinC Googs will stay on this campaign as Deputy Chief of Staff to help with the transition.
We also wanted to take a moment to thank Googs who is retiring after many campaigns as CinC. We thank googs for his time, energy and effort at leading the Axis side to multiple victories. Googs is one of those leaders who led by example in game and on the battlefield.
Message from Axis CinC Shagher:
End of Campaign 177....
First things first I would like to thank GOOGS for leading Axis in such a remarkable manner.
GOOGS set an example in Leadership, honor, ethics, fairness and has been very resourceful the entire time he spent as CinC.
Much work was done behind the scenes by Googs for the good of all players.
It was a pleasure and privilege to serve Googs and turn his directives into accomplished orders!
As for the previous Campaign I ask Axis troops not to mourn our lost towns and defeat but to celebrate the opportunity to take them back and fight again for Victory!
