Congratulations go out to both CinCs on a hard fought Campaign #53. Both Alphie and Shad0w64 worked their butts off to ensure the players had a fun and well planned campaign.  But, as in most things in life, there can be only one winner. After 36 days of planning, strategizing and exemplary leadership, Axis CinC Alphie emerged as the victorious leader. And, as we all know, to the victor go the spoils! In this case, a chocolatey, frosty, sugary mass of German chocolate cake.

Tom77 and his crew of crazy Euros pulled off another memorable BE Player Convention a few weeks ago....well, the tourists and restaurant staff will remember it at least. This is the second convention Tom77 has hosted at his place in Starigrad Paklenica, Croatia. Tom77 was kind enough to provide us with some pictures about which he says "Next time we have to drink less so I have more pictures which can go public :)".

An excerpt from the desk of the Axis Commander-in-Chief: TEAM AXIS:  The last week I was forced to stay in my bunker for safety due to lack of recon on Allied forces movements; and therefore my administration thought it would be better to hold me inside the bunker rather than anywhere on the field. We had a little breakout in south this last week and we routed three divisions. Good job to those planning and to all players who were a part of the operation.

When a game sticks around as long as Battleground Europe has, the player base inevitably goes through transformations. The typical year 1 player, I dare say, is a hard-core war or flight sim guy, grizzled, ornery, possibly a chain smoker, dressed in a wrinkled well worn Aces High or Air Warrior T-shirt (why, yes, my office IS directly across from DOC's, how did you guess?).  His command center boasts a huge CRT monitor, wired keyboard and mouse, and his joystick handle is worn smooth from hours of chasing the enemy across the virtual blue skies of Europe. But times have changed. The next generation of BE player is upon us and she wears a pink tiara...

For the 10th time a Dutch group of WW2 gamers organized a European mini con in Holland. The group is known as the 1st Royal Orange Fire 322st Dutch squadron. It is not really active anymore, but they have thousands of flight hours in Warbirds, Aces High 2 and of course Battleground Europe. The mini con once started as “their yearly squad day” and currently attracts war sim addicts from all over Europe.
