CRS would like to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! We hope each of you takes advantage of the short work week and enjoys some time in-game.
On Tuesday night, during an impromptu "Kill-A-Rat Event" we popped FOUR AOs during US Prime Time. w00t!!!! Continue reading for more Rat Chat and Mailbag info . . .
Your hard-working CRS staff are taking a few hours off to be with family and friends, making pies, smoking turkeys, and preparing tasty side dishes; and yet, even during "Turkey Day" a few hard-chargers were working, too. We are thankful for the continued passion and commitment that our loyal player base exhibits as it helps the ongoing development of WWIIONLINE.

Campaign Update - #185
Day 24 of the Campaign is winding but this map is nearly split 50/50 on ownership with momentum swings for both sides, Bertrix was capped this morning and by the evening the Allies had recaptured it (again) and buffered this vital airfield. Fights are raging along the front This weekend is lining up to be very interesting whether the Allies push through the Ardenne eastward or will the Axis push to the Meuse and use their stubborn southern salient to threatened the extreme tip of the Meuse river line? Jump in, make a difference, cry Havoc and let loose the Dogs of War!
Rat Chat Question & Answer (continued)
Question: Has a world as large as WWIIOL been achieved in UE4 before? Will you be utilizing techniques such as world composition and origin rebasing? Has there been unforeseen hurdles with bringing a world this large into UE4?
ANSWER: The short answer is no. A world this large has not been attempted. However, UE5 does have some promising features that should work to allow us to do it.
Question: Will moving to the Unreal Engine fix old bugs, ie body parts clipping through walls?
ANSWER: We hope that it will help to squash bugs like that, yes.
Question: Cde in entering and exiting vehicles in the Unreal Engine? IE Spawn a tank, roll it a few minutes then bail. The next guy walks by and jumps in finished ammo or life?
ANSWER: That's not currently planned for and is quite a big task as the basis of our game doesn't work from that perspective. We've talked about ways to accomplish this but it's not currently planned for.
Question: Will there be more accurate terrain in 2.0? IE less tree/bush clutter?
ANSWER: Terrain is being worked on for proper location of the rivers and elevation, etc. The tree and bush clutter are meant for cover for infantry, etc.
The Mailbag (it's baaack!!)
Jdoyle-13th Inf (JD405) - This isn't a question but it's just that a Normandy reenactment would be really fun. No need to reply just hope someone at CRS sees it or considers it.
ANSWER: We really like suggestions for Special Events and this one has NOT been suggested that I recall. We will certainly put it on our scenario 'list'. Whether small or large tactical scenarios - keep those ideas coming!
Someone129-426th CO - These are my ideas: AI convoys from Britain affecting supply (possibly America as well), a system for even more players on ships controlling things, and larger ships with different roles in-game.
ANSWER: There have been discussions and some work explored re the supply to include the USA but there have not been any concrete discussions on Trans-Atlantic supply to England and/or the Continent. Poly-crewing has been discussed for 2.0 but that does not mean it will be a feature in 2.0; it is still early days in our journey to 2.0 (UE5).
Scrub - Are tow accounts slowed for free to play or is that for subbed memberships only?
ANSWER: There is no impediment to a Free To Play account in driving a vehicle or capping a depot. The vehicles are modeled to the best of our ability to reflect their historical performance BUT being in the proper gear, elevation, or terrain can ALWAYS impact your driving speed. Capturing depots is solely based upon the spawned-in population of the under-pop side.
