Proximity Attack Objectives Work-Around
No patch is perfect and it was discovered during gameplay that IF the attacking force activates heavy armor EWS prior to tripping the heavy infantry EWS, the Attack Objective will NOT initiate. If that should happen to your team while attacking you have a temporary solution to ensure AO placement:
- Armor units can RTB (return to base) / despawn to sufficiently drop the armor EWS from HEAVY to LIGHT
- Raise the infantry EWS from LIGHT to HEAVY status
- Hold or keep the infantry at heavy EWS
- AO initiated on town
- Have the armor spawn in and deploy where needed
- Heavy armor EWS will NOT impact the AO
Once the AO is set, the attacking force MUST keep the infantry EWS at HEAVY status or the system will begin to withdraw the AO. The system will send alert messages to the side with the AO warning of the timer for AO removal so watch your chat!!
Community News
It was with great sadness that on Monday we received word that long-time subscriber and CRS volunteer, TREVOR08, had passed away unexpectedly. TREVOR08, Trevor Abney, was a New Orleans Police Officer who was shot in the head while on duty in 2020. He amazingly survived, continued to play, and be active in our gaming community. Since August 2021, Trevor had been the Assistant Community Management liaison for the Axis. I was very proud to have him on our Community Management Team. His skill and keen insight into hearing what people would be really saying when interacting with them spoke to his fine-tuned skills as a Police Officer. He knew what people were about and his rough and gravelly voice delivered many a sharp quip that had our work conference calls or Discord gaming sessions rolling with genuine laughter. In these last few months, he had become our designated "namer of the operations" which the community has been enjoying. It is not often you meet and get to know someone who had such a strong sense of serving others. He was a volunteer fireman while still in high school, joined the National Guard, and served in combat in Iraq, returned home to further aid his community as a police officer for the last seven years for the City of New Orleans. Trevor then continued to serve our gaming community in his new role as an ACM in WWII Online. We will miss him deeply as will his family.
If you are unfamiliar with Trevor's story, you can read it here and if you scroll down in the article, you can also view his personal re-telling of the events of that fateful day in 2020. We will announce in the future a proper date and time for an in-game memorial service. When that date is announced, we hope that our community will log in to say a final thank you and farewell to our friend, Trevor Abney.
