Updates in Community Management
Being a Community Management member for nearly two years has been a great honor for me. I have been able to strengthen existing friendships and been able to meet many more of our community in person (having beer and burgers with local players), online, and via Discord. I am stepping down from the Community Manager role but will continue to serve CRS in a different capacity behind the scenes. You will likely see me more in-game padding someone's stats while I fire artillery shells in the general direction of the enemy. I am pleased that a good friend of many years is following me and I hope that our community will support him in the weeks and months ahead. We have such a great community and when we pull together, we have shown that we can shock the world. Take care, tex.
Thank you, Tex, some of you may know me, and other may not, I am Badger. I started with the community around 1999 when I worked with a website, and I did an article on the game. Soon after we became affiliated with Playnet. After that first meeting with the "RATS" I fell in love with their dream. One of the things that I fell in love with what the HC strategic aspect of the game that they told me about during our first meeting. They explained to me the leadership on a larger scale, and then their visions of how those above country leadership would work with their counterparts for the betterment of all players. When possible, I joined the HC at the country leadership level. I was promoted up the chain of command over a period of time and served as the Commander in Chief of my side for a while. After retiring from the HC my counterpart and I proposed the need for Community Management to the RATs and they accepted. We were paid a small amount of money that was split in two between the two of us. A bit later we were laid off, my counterpart decided to leave, and I stayed on. During this time period we created the Community Managers, the Gamer Managers (Gamer Moderators today), and a worked behind the scenes to create toolsets to help with these and other positions. A bit later I made a hard decision that I still regret, I had an offer in RL that I could not refuse and I took it. To this day I still second guess that decision.
After Xoom and CRS 2.0 was going for a bit, I worked with them as Assistant CM for a little while and then my spouse had some health issues that I was taken away once again. While it was the right decision at the time, I have always regretted having to make that decision. I have lots of real-life friends in this community and really do enjoy the game. So, a couple of weeks ago Xoom contacted me, and we discussed the game. My life is back to stable, and I see no issues in the future that will cause me to leave, so I accepted his offer to take on the role Community Manager again. I appreciate the chance to take on such an important role and I look forward to working with everyone in the community to make this game and community better for everyone.
I would like to Congratulate Tex64 for his new position joining the Business Team. He is a natural for that type of position. I have known him since I was battling him in the trenches in the early days of the war. Chimm has picked up a great man for his team and I know Tex will bring us a lot of new folks.
Appointment of New Allied Assistant Community Manager
I am proud to announce the appointment of PANDA1K to the role of Allied Assistant Community Manager. He has been playing the game since 2001 and has earned a pretty mean reputation in the air. When he joined this game, he was 14 years old, he came to it from Chain of Command (by 2AM) and Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator. When asked about his new role he said, “I will be working with BADGER to help fine-tune this already awesome community.” While he primarily plays air, he is not afraid to dabble in the ground and naval game.
We are currently interviewing candidates for the Axis Assistant Community Manager position and hope to make an announcement soon.

Dah Supply!
There has been talk in the community since June 6, 2023, and we have been listening. We have heard your words, and we have had many internal discussions over them. This is not as simple of a topic as it seems. I am going to explain, so please read my words before you start throwing the bad fruit. Let's start the week prior to the Steam release if you will, adjusting the supply is a massive undertaking. The planning for the Steam release supply actually started prior to July, but the actual raising of the supply had to start during the week prior. It OHM and TMAN the week to raise the supply in a gradual manner. I think we all know how delicate our servers are, so to avoid a system melt down they took it slow. The final part of this was when the servers had to come offline to put the finishing touches on the final items the night prior.
We agree, the supply is higher than we would like them at this population level. With that said, we have a couple of things that we must look at in our planning for the near future. Our release on Steam happened during a big Steam Summer Sale. The algorithm for steam is pushing games with deeper discounts to the front of other games during this sale. When XOOM pushed the BIG BUTTON, World War II Online went to the front of the line, then the deeper discounted games quickly pushed in front of it. We have mixed feeling on this. We over planned for a big explosion of players in the event that it happened. We over did lots of things, not just supply, to give us the best chance of nothing going wrong. We planned for many things that could go wrong, two of the worse being the servers exploding, or not enough supplies. Again, those were only two of a long list of items we planned to keep from happening.
So, we did not see the explosion of new players happen, which we are ok with. What we did and are seeing is a nice daily steady increase of players subscribing and also in the server playing. This increase has been steady for every day since the release and are represented in both organic subscriptions and Steam subscriptions. So that is good news.
Now, you ask why we do not lower the supply since we agree they are high. We have a couple of things we are looking at. The first is the Steam Summer Sale ends at the end of the day July 13, 2023. Since none of us have been here before, none of us know what the Algorithm will do with our game tomorrow. We simply do not know if we will see a big influx of players on the 14th or over the weekend or not. Then, as Tex stated earlier, we have OPERATION MAELSTROM happening Sunday, and then we also have the ALL ACCESS WEEKEND.
With that stated, if we did lower the supply, what would happen if a wave of players did come and the supply was not enough? We talked with OHM and TMAN and to raise the supply in an emergency situation would take 96 man hours, and they estimated that there would be a 75%+ chance that the sever would have a meltdown. The meltdown could be caused by a human error due to speeding things up and missing a step, or technical issues between the servers and other things that I did not understand.
So, it was decided with too many unknowns going into this weekend that the supply would be left where it is, and we would review it again on Monday with some changes expected to be made unless something happens more in the population between now and them.
WELCOME NEW PLAYERS!
I would like to take a moment to welcome the new guys to our community. I know there are a lot of you, many of you have killed meh!
This game has a strong learning curve, but it is well worth the effort to learn it. The game is awesome, and the community is great! Speaking of which, here are some links that you might find useful.
Discord is very helpful, the community discord has the community channels, plus the Axis and Allied side channels, along with the squad channels, and help channels. I would strongly suggest you take a look at it.
The World War II Online Discord Server is here for you!
No matter what level player you are in the game, you may find something that you need help on. There are many players wanting to help other players learn the game. Many of those players watch the "Training Request Channel" on the Discord server. You can follow that link and request help. Within a short period of time another player will reply and work out the details with you to help you.
If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can post it in the "Support Channel" and another player or RAT will be more than happy to respond with an answer for you.
World War II Online is a game that is best done with organized team play. Lonewolf play is able to be done, but joining an organized team really adds so many layers to the game. It is highly recommended for players to join a squad that has good numbers of active players. You can visit the "Join a Squad" Discord channel and view squads looking for players or post that you are interested in joining a squad.
There is a host of other things that is on the World War II Online Discord Server. If you have not been on it, or have not been on it in a while, you really should go by and check it out. Even if you have not been around the community in a while, you can stop by and say hello, we would be glad to hear from you.
Another source of information for players is the Game Wiki. Through the years players and developed have teamed up to put together this wiki page to provide information to players. Today EDDIE05 Manages the Training Corps which includes the Wiki Page. He continues to update it as he has the time around setting up training for players and answering questions. Having just returned to the game from a while away, I had to use this site a bunch, I will point out some of the pages that I found useful.
I am one of those who cannot remember the keymapping for very long. Soon as I close the Key Map forgot what I looked up. So I have to print it out. You can find the Key Map here. EDDIE05 recently updated this page with the recent additions like the voice chat commands, etc. At the bottom are the PDF files if you would like to download the generic keymaps.
I am not sure if everyone will find this useful or not, but I do. I find things recently happened are the things I am looking for usually. This is a quick way to find the information. - Thank you EDDIE05 for your hard work on this and the Training Corp!
The official World War II Online Forums
The official World War II Online Forums have a long history around the game. Some of the original players date their joining the community by joining during the Orange Forums. This tells you that they were here during the closed beta days prior to the game release. The Brown Forums do not get as much mention, and then we have the current version we are on now. A lot of information is included in the forums. For new players I would point you to a couple.
The Tech Support forums are divided into three, one for Windows, one for Macintosh, and one for Billing. You can search the one you are needing information on, and if you do not find what you are looking for post. Another player or a RAT will post a response when they notice your post.
WWII Online Player Discussions
Within this section of the forums, you will find different branches of discussions. General Discussion, Your Side's Discussions, The Barracks, The Motor Pool, The Hangar, and the Harbour are available for you to browse and tell your tales. If you want to discuss a sortie that you were on, this is where you can discuss it. You can also pick up some pointers in these areas.
The Classifieds

On A Personal Note
For the last month or so I have been back in the game and remembered how fun it was. It also brought back many great memories. I have seen many of my friends in the field, and I have started to miss many other friends who are not in the field. I have picked up my phone and called several of them and got them to join me in the game and we have had a blast. With the numbers increasing it is a great time for old friends to join us in the game and have some fun. I ask that you call some of your old friends and invite them to join you in the game. I hope that you have as much fun as I have had with my friends. If not playing in the game just reaching out and having some laughs as you remember some of the good war stories that you had together. Feel free to utilize the World War II Online Discord Server if you like. If there is anything that I can do to help get some of your old friends back into the game, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If you and your old squad mates want to do something, email me and I will see what I can do to help you make it happen.
