Tonight we start Campaign 195 and it includes several changes. We are opening up several weapons available as free unlocks for the duration of the campaign to our Free Players in an effort to showcase these weapons in a live scenario and increase the server population. We are also looking at rolling back to a simplified 4 Tier system (Tier 0, 1, 2 and 3) to avoid confusion and keep the transition of tiers smooth. The theme for this campaign is squad development - rebuild your squad by bringing folks back and helping new players! Please continue reading to learn more about that and the settings for Proximity Attack Objectives, which will be featured for the first time for a whole campaign, and welcome aboard our two new Side Commanders!
PROXIMITY AO RULE UPDATES
Proximity AOs are system provided AOs based on Heavy Infantry EWS (Early Warning System). Simply put, you need to have an appropriate level number of players within town range to trigger EWS (the red icon below a town name). During the initiation, period you must keep these people alive and avoid casualties (watch out for AI or enemy forces) to receive the AO. Heavy Infantry EWS can be in the form of a truck/hauler, anti-tank or anti-aircraft gun, or any infantryman.
- Number of players to receive/deploy an AO: 4 players
- We increased this by +1 player required.
- Any infantryman, truck/hauler, gun, or combination will work.
- Time it takes to receive/deploy AO: 3 minutes
- We increased this by +1 minute to help avoid accidental counter-attack AOs.
- This also gives the defensive force (typically underpopulated) more time to react.
- Withdraw AO timer (below heavy EWS threshold): 10 minutes
- We decreased this by -5 minutes so AOs could transition better.
- Remember: At anytime if you meet the threshold requirement, it will restart that timer and keep your AO deployed.
Disclaimer: These are subject to change based on the interpretation of data by CRS mid-campaign. We are still in the refinement phases of this initiative and need your support and cooperation to get this right. Please use the .bug feature in-game to help us better understand any issues if they arise. CRS now has a way to reset the Prox AO background scripts without impacting live operations (restarting the server) and we have active monitoring through the logs should anything arise. FREE UNLOCKS FOR CAMPAIGN 195
These unlocks are available for new or returning players, through WWIIOnline.com or through Steam. They'll be available for the duration of Campaign 195 only. Note: Appropriate rank levels required to use them will stay the same, so you need to earn rank accordingly. Use this time to recruit squad mates and develop your squad following our recent posting about squad development (here).

ROLLING BACK TO 4 TIERS
We are going back to 4 simple tiers for WWII Online. This was decided after community feedback made it apparent it was overcomplicating things and causing some issues. Thanks for that feedback! As a reminder, our tiers reflect the following years of the war:
- Tier 0: 1940
- Tier 1: 1941
- Tier 2: 1942
- Tier 3: 1943 onwards
NEW SIDE COMMANDERS
We'd like to welcome aboard our two new Side Commander's (CinC).
- Allied Commander in Chief: Dontmove
- Axis Commander in Chief: Vondoosh
Please support them in and out of game, with an emphasis on building our squads back up, and doing the hard work of deploying trucks, mobile spawns and attack objectives. We need our veteran leadership to step up and show the way how WWII Online is best played.
Campaign 195 is poised to be an exciting campaign, unlike any we have seen in recent history. With a renewed sense of tenacity and Proximity AOs, voice comms and hybrid supply plus new side leadership, this is going to be a big one!
