Happy New Year!
2017 saw some great advances in the game, both behind the scenes and in game. It saw the game's release on Steam. From Player Placed Objects to Self-Propelled Anti Aircraft units, game play is changing for the first time in many years. It is rumored the RATS have a few surprises in early 2018, grab a hold and hang on!
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
(From a player) "For the first time in the history of WWII Online, snow fell in game and blanketed the ground. It was like something from another time, logging in and seeing the white stuff everywhere. At first glance it looked like a bad driver install, or was it perhaps an overheated graphics card? It took some time to adjust, but the reality of what was happening set in and I was ecstatic to be a part of this historic moment. To me, this was more than just snow. This was a sign that CRS now had the ability to work with the terrain and this may just be the beginning of many new and exciting changes in store for the future."
Speaking of SPAA...
The Self Propelled Anti Aircraft units are in game and are getting a workout. Creative players are already finding plenty of uses for them, from light artillery support to infantry suppression. Some are even using them to shoot at planes lol! They're available for both sides, so get in game and give them a try...or blow them up, whichever you prefer.
Campaign 149 is in full swing.
So far, the Axis has the advantage, currently controlling approximately two thirds of the towns on the map. If they win, it will be three in a row for "the dark side." Will the Allies pull it together, stage a comeback and bring the Axis to its knees, or will the Axis continue its roll and take over all of Europe? Only time (and the efforts of the brave) will tell.
FIVE ALIVE!
Five, a long time player and the creator of Five's Maps has returned to the game recently, and has teamed up with CRS! If you aren’t familiar with these maps, be sure to head over and check them out. You'll find all the individual city maps complete with capture points and AI gun positions highlighted. You'll find RDP maps showing the elevation of factory towns and locations of all the factories. There are even tutorials on the location and arc of fire of AI gun emplacements. Five's Maps is an incredibly valuable but often overlooked resource for every player.
Welcome back, Five! Salute!

24th December 2007, Christmas Eve.
Like we do every year my family meets at my cousin's home. Before dinner, my cousin said me that I should take a look at a new videogame he had, and I remember I said him that I didn't like too much to play videogames. When I entered the room I saw a paper map on the table, the map that was in the WWIIOL PC-CD box. I remember that inmediately I saw something different in that map, in that game. After show me for a bit the game with his account, he helped me to create a new account and to enlist me in his same squad: the 1st Spanish Company (1SC).
When I arrived to my home that night, I remember that I installed the game in my computer and I logged in. After 10 minutes playing I only had one thing clear: a new world was opening for me.
Today, 24th December 2017, Christmas Eve, after 10 years being part of this, I can only say thank you. I have had lot of good moments, lot of good experiences and, above all, lot of good friends. I was honored to be Allied Commander in Chief (CinC), to be present in OKW CinC Staff with the great Toro15, to be High Command officer in both sides for a long time and, in short, to enjoy all the possibilities offered by this great game.
After all that, the experience has taught me one thing: the most important thing we have here in WWIIOL is the great Community that supports it. You, the players, the officers, the game managers and developers, etc. Everyone who turns this into a dream come true.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year 2018. God bless you.
