If you didn’t make last Sunday’s Rat Chat then you missed a doozy! Matt “XOOM” Callahan held a 2 hour rat chat with over 100 players in attendance in our online meeting room or watching as “Bearededmitch” broadcast the meeting live stream on Facebook. Many of the Rat volunteers were in the meeting to answer questions that fall within their CRS duties. Every single player in attendance could ask a question of the Rats and many did. Continue reading to see the full Rat Chat and player questions inside.
In case you missed it and you want to hear it played to your own ears, the entire Rat Chat can be replayed from below:
The chat started with a detailed review of our recently published 2019/2020 game development roadmap. The review of the roadmap runs for about the first 30 minutes of the Rat Chat recording. We strongly encourage you to take the time to examine the aggressive development path we have laid out for the next 12 months. If you don’t want to listen to it explained you can read it here www.wwiionline.com/roadmap.
Xoom explained that our next patch will be a maintenance release which will be out in the next 3 to 5 months. This release will have many of the “bug fixes” of a lot of little stuff that aggravate our players so much. More specifics are forthcoming as our list of fixes gets finalized. But we are anxious to bring this maintenance release to you as soon as possible. Hatch told the group that aircraft damage level audit will be done for the release. He said the aircraft G load still needed some development work and will not make the next patch but it is still on target with this years roadmap. Other active projects we discussed were the JU88 – the Wellington – New HC tools set – New user interface.

We took questions from many players and here are some of them:
- What is the status on the 64 bit conversion? We are about 75% complete. We are working on the PC and MAC clients simultaneously. We will have updated information for the next chat.
- How does RDP bombing impact garrison supply? It is impacted the same way as the moveable supply. RDP bombing will slow garrison and moveable supply timers.
- When will the new bunkers be deployed in more towns? Replacing bunkers involves terrain changes which can be tricky. We are intending to roll them out to more towns but it will not be all towns. We expect to keep a mix of all types of bunker configurations.
- Any thoughts to adding AI trains on the map? Cool idea but not under consideration.
- Quincannon representing the Navy and KM boys are still looking for infantry supply in the naval garrisons. No promises but we are looking into it. Until then, every single navy port town has an army garrison which has infantry supply to protect naval towns.
- Any plans to introduce recovery vehicles or engies that can repair vehicles? Again, cool idea but not on the development table right now.
- Joern questioned the airplane bomb damage model and asked if the Stuka was getting kills on allied armor. Hatch explained that the bomb damage models have been extensively tested. He said an allied heavy tank would take a direct hit for a kill but that a Stuka can kill a heavy tank. If you having problems then send some film to us for review.
- Majes99 asked what the status of the game trainers is? Tman said the Community Management team was reviewing the “Trainers” program for changes and new recruitment drive.
- How will upgrading SpeedTree change our graphics? Upgrading from 4.0 to 6.0 will dramatically improve our terrain graphics like grass, trees and fields. This is one of our highest priorities in this year’s development plans.
- What languages does the game support? We currently support German, French, Italian and main Chinese Translation for the Russian language is in development right now. If you would like to help with translations reach out to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
- Are you considering an AI PPO? No, we are not interested in pop up AI in the battlefield.
- Are you considering adjustable airplane fuel loads to assist in increased maneuverability?
- Memoi asked if wwiilonline players could contact game reviewers directly and solicit a review on our behalf. Hell yes you can! We need every one you pushing support for this game through personal contacts, social media and helping us get new subscriptions. Any marketing ideas or direct assistance you can offer is always welcome. Reach out to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. for marketing.
We concluded the meeting with a lot of optimism about our accomplishments and our direction for the future. But there is one dark cloud over our heads and that is the need for more subscriptions. As you know, we are 100% player funded game and so any development work we want done must be funded through subscriptions. More subs = more development plain and simple. Now is the time to put your wallet up to your wish list. If you want to see us achieve the development objectives in the next year then we really need your financial support!
