The next WWII Online Special Event will be the WEYGAND PLAN held on November 14th, 2021 at 11:00am Server Time / U.S. Pacific Standard Time (UTC -8). This Special Event will be a continuation in the series that started with OPERATION DYNAMO and pushing into an alternate history of "what ifs".
As a result of the Allied victory in OPERATION DYNAMO, this event will play out the implementation of the hypothetical WEYGAND PLAN which is the Allied plan to push back against the German Forces now that the British Expeditionary Forces did NOT have to evacuate from Dunkirk. This Special Event will encapsulate the Battle of Arras. The battle positions the British Matilda tank with the opportunity to initiate the German tanks with its tough armor and good gun while discovering the unknown prowess of the Flak 36 as an anti-tank gun. Potentially, the Axis can quickly get back on track and attain victory in France or will the dreams of erasing the bitterness of the First World War defeat escape their grasp. The Allies have a small opening, can they capitalize on their previous success?
EVENT BACKGROUND

The first Special Event in this series saw the British and French Forces rewrite history, defying the odds during OPERATION DYNAMO, bringing the German advance to a halt. The Allies now have a chance to seize the initiative by implementing the WEYGAND PLAN. The French are still in a precarious position and success is their only option. The Germans are still in position to finish encircling the French Forces and bringing their war to a quick end. British Expeditionary Forces are also only a few missteps away from being pushed back into the English Channel. If France falls they will lose a huge ally and then have to face off against the Axis Forces by themselves. The objective of the day is simple for the day, hold Arras and try to break out by taking Bapaume and Cambrai. The task may sound simple but it will take everything the Allies have to meet the objectives.
Winning the Battle of France is still within reach for the Germans. They need to quickly regroup and finish the job of routing the BEF and running roughshod through France on their way to Paris. Initiative is key in any fight, to get the juggernaut back on track the German Army is tasked with retaking Arras. Intelligence reports the British have an undermanned garrison in the town, hitting it with a full brigade should mean victory. However, there are reports of several A12 Matilda IIs stationed near Arras that could be redirected to Arras to relieve the British garrison.
As a result of the Allies winning OPERATION DYNAMO we have entered into an alternate reality of "what ifs". This event will lead to OPERATION MARKET GARDEN with an Allied victory and THE SOMME with an AXIS victory.
Will the Axis regain momentum and take a step closer to ultimate victory or will the Allies defy the odds again and push the Germans back again?
