UPDATED LEBEL RIFLE

Big updates on the French "Lebel" Rifle. New first person texture and a sound file that makes a big crack when fired. Our video demonstrates its effects on opposing forces. Notice the open sights, smooth bolt cycling and accurate placement of rounds.

HISTORY OF THE LEBEL

When it was introduced in the late 19th century, the Fusil mle 1886 was one of the earliest bolt-action rifles to see operational service. After minor modifications in 1893, the new weapon became the standard rifle of the French infantry. It became widely known by Colonel Nicolas Lebel's name, even though the design was not his. During World War I, the French military realized that the Lebel's tubular magazine design was becoming obsolete, and it introduced faster-loading, clip-fed Berthier rifles. Even the later introduction of 7.5mm weapons such as the MAS 36 did not manage to completely phase out the trusty Lebel, which still was in frontline service in 1940.

WEAPON IN GAME PLAY

What makes the Lebel different from other rifles in the game is the tubular magazine, which makes for a slower reload sequence because bullets have to be inserted one-by-one. On the other hand, its open sights are less obtrusive than the peep sights found on other Allied rifles.
