As the Campaign continues to bring out some of the best fights we've seen in awhile, we thought we'd throw some more fuel on the fire (so to speak) by bringing in a wave of new players into the game. For many free players, we anticipate this to be their first experiences using these bad-ass weapons. Let's take a look at some more specifications about each of these rifles.

About this promotion

Free players will be able to use Semi-Automatic Rifleman from Friday (11th) - Sunday (13th) this weekend only. You will be able to load the game and play with these rifles at no cost. This is an introductory promotion to allow free players an opportunity to try these rifleman in a genuine campaign setting.

At any time a free player may upgrade their subscription to either Basic (medium) or Premium (full) access by going to their Special Offer / Account pages located here.

American - M1 Garand Rifle

The M1 Garand is best known for two things: its semi-automatic firing and the hallmark "ping" sound when its 8-round en bloc clip was ejected. The semi-automatic fire gave it a tremendous advantage over opponents using the bolt-action rifles that had been the previous standard. General George S. Patton called it "the greatest implement of battle ever devised."

  • Type:  Semi-automatic Rifle
  • Caliber: .30-06 (7.62 mm)
  • Feed system:  8 round en bloc box magazine
  • Muzzle velocity : 800 m/s
  • Maximum Effective range: 500 m

German - Gewehr 43

Facing the rapid introduction of the semi-automatic rifles of the United States and the U.S.S.R - the M1 Garand and the Tokarev SVT-40, respectively - Germany sought out an answer which became the Gewehr 43. It fired the 8x57 mm IS round, which is also used by the Mauser Karabiner 98k.

More difficult to produce, it was not issued in quantities approaching its rivals but over 400,000 were fielded by the end of the war.

  • Type:  Semi-automatic Rifle
  • Caliber: 7.92 mm
  • Feed system:  10 round box
  • Muzzle velocity : 755 m/s

How do I get more game access?

To review how you can gain more access to WWII Online, check our available plans page here, and compare access to preference.

Have a great weekend

We hope you rack up a lot of kills, Cornered Rat's might even do an impromptu "Kill-A-Rat" event which is where players get to see if they shoot Staff members live for all players in the game world to see.

Ultimately, the mission this weekend is to have a great time, bring some new friends to try out the game, and see WWII come to life in this epic grand scale first person shooter. Veterans, remember to help the new guys out and keep an eye on Green Tags. We're sure they'll have a lot of questions, help them get into squads and find action quickly.

We'll see you in the fight!

Hope to get some sign ups after the freebies. To bad I lose a day of gaming for it.
More players the better I guess. Good with the bad.
Love the game.
GO! BK!
