As of today, it has been 22 years since I joined WWII Online. I started on July 16th 2002 as a 14 year old, and I'm now 36. I will continue to fight for its success and I am extraordinarily blessed to have a great community, and so many folks who have helped the project and I along the way.
This has been one of my greatest honors and I have learned so much. There would be too many names to state, but you know who you are - thank you. And most importantly to our WWII Online gaming community who has remained faithful, through thick and thin, we couldn't have made it this far without you.
I am reflecting a lot today on the years of experiences and the possibilities ahead. It brings me joy to know that we took something that was at extraordinary risk and doubled its lifetime from when it was expected to fail.
That, is a hell of a thing. One day, perhaps, I may write a book about all this so you can see everything that has happened from my eyes. It might surprise you what it has taken to keep this all going. I can tell you the keyword here is, "faith." WWII Online has many promising days ahead, maintain the faith and our team at Playnet/CRS will continue to pursue the future, however that may finally shake out to be.
As we say, "S!"
Gratefully yours,
Matt "Xoom" Callahan
Here's an interesting video recently put together by Boogie5 that may shed some more information on some of that risk and how things came to be:
Doing a great job I got zero complaints but it's about time after 20 years we eliminate a few French flags and get some Canadian flags in this game after all a lot of Canadian Blood was spilled and it's insulting that we are not represented in this game but I'm not here disrespecting you or the game you guys have done a great job and excellent game and I do my very best to promote it and try to recruit and get other people interested in the community thank you

I tear up every time I hear your story, Hearing really shows how passionate you are and that you actually mean what you say about this project and game community overall. I'm honored to be a part of this! -Calwood
Every boy’s dream - to get paid for playing your favorite game. Every man’s dream — to fnd a job that you enjoy so much you would do it for free. We should all be so lucky as to find a job like Matt’s. But I assure you, he had to work like the devil to make all that happen, to do it for free sometimes, and not always lucky or fun. But still . . .

muito legal ! eu também jogo há 21 anos... vida longa ao wwii online ! (ph0g0)
This man literally has committed his life to this project. WWIIOL is better because of Xoom. Generations of gamers have enjoyed years and years of persistent war, a few moments to forget about the perils of the world around, and fight the good fight. Whether you win big, or it all goes bust, you should forever be remembered as the most important community member - hands down, there is no compare.
Keep it up, shock the world! - Bar
