Open Beta Is LIVE: Version 1.38.1.0

The next evolution of World War II Online has arrived. Version 1.38.1.0 introduces three major innovations that redefine how players experience the battlefield. The all-new Victory Points (VP) system gives Free-to-Play soldiers the power to earn and spend VP on premium units through teamwork and objective-focused play — all without changing what Premium subscribers already enjoy. Whether you’re guarding capture points, deploying mobile spawns, or supporting your side under tough conditions, your battlefield contributions now matter more than ever.

The Fortified Mobile Spawn (FMS) has been completely redesigned from the ground up, offering true 360° defensibility and separate spawn points for infantry and guns, doubling its durability and tactical value. Combined with sweeping lighting upgrades across the game engine, the world of WWII Online now looks more alive, immersive, and atmospheric — setting the foundation for future visual improvements.

This Open Beta is your chance to experience these groundbreaking systems firsthand, provide feedback, and help shape the next generation of WWII Online gameplay.

Review the below Readme notes carefully and we'll work on scaled normal game play. Bug reports should go to https://www.wwiionline.com/bugs, with a title of "Open Beta:" and include bug information there.

World War II Online

Version 1.38.1.0 - November 2025

Victory Points (VP) introduce an exciting new way for Free-to-Play users to access premium content through in-game effort. Players can now earn VP by performing supportive actions—such as guarding Capture Points (CPs) or deploying Mobile Spawns (MSs)—and use them to unlock premium units, provided they have sufficient VP and Rank.

Premium subscribers continue to enjoy full, unrestricted access to all units and do not need to worry about VP costs.

VP earnings are capped on a 24-hour, per-account basis. Earning and spending rates may be adjusted at any time by Game Management. VP is refunded when a player successfully returns to base (RTB) with an undamaged and surviving crew or if the player is spawn-camped (death within 30 seconds). Additionally, VP unit costs are discounted when playing on the underpopulated side.

FRONTLINE OWNERSHIP NOW SEEN ON MAP

Blue (friendly) vs Red (enemy) territory is now shown on the in-game map. This changes as the lines do and as you zoom in/out, it gets progressively more transparent. The more you zoom out, the daker the lines get.

Here you can see game world ownership zoomed out. As you zoom in, it becomes lighter / more transparent.

AUTOMATICALLY DISPLAY ACTIVE FIRE BASES (FB's)

Until now, you have always had to click on a town to see its fire base associations. This is now active by default which will allow you to scroll across the map screen and quickly see who owns which FB. But more than that, it now shows (at 25% transparency) inactive Fire Bases as well so you can better prepare for future FB positions, instead of having to zoom deep into and study the map looking for the FB object.

Here you can see active Fire Bases with flag ownership associations. Inactive FB's are 25% transparency and do not have a flag (or name when highlighting them) to keep the map screen clear.
