June 6th, 1944...

After a long wait on the coast of England, the might of the allied war machine is now ready to be unleashed upon the shores of occupied Europe.

As hundreds of thousands of men and women line up for their last briefings, daring RAF pilots take off for last minute recon to confirm the German positions... They know the allies are coming, but don't know EXACTLY where, as such they have placed their armored divisions far away from the shoreline, in an effort to keep an strategic reserve to be committed on the point of greater allied efforts...

Meanwhile, the Allies have kept their whole invasion force well concentrated, but while most of the Allied Armies are assigned beaches in the Normandy area, a daring expeditionary force has been assigned to break through the beaches of Calais, which (for the German High Command) is one of the most likely invasion areas. As such, they have placed 2 whole divisions around the area (The 16th Infantry Division and the 4th Panzer Division), without truly committing to one single point of contact, in order to make sure they could react to any allied invasion in this area.

OPERATIONAL ORDERS

Allied Forces

  • In order to divert enemy units from the Normandy area, the British 1st Infantry Division and the 2nd Infantry Division are to stage a daring amphibious operation in the french city of Calais and capture at least one other town in order to tie down the 4th Panzer and 16th Infantry Divisions.

  • To support the daring amphibious raid, the Americans have lent the 501st Paratrooper Regiment to support the English operations in the area of Calais.

    • This Paratrooper regiment will be available for offensive operations right up until Calais is taken, whatever is left of it being assigned to reinforce the troops in Normandy as it is the main point of contact.

INTEL REPORT: Allied High Command has received intel from the French Resistance that many garrisons, Calais included, have been stripped down to almost a single Light Infantry Battalion, no armor has been spotted in the past 3 weeks around this area.

AXIS Forces

  • Orders from the Wolf's Lair are to reinforce the whole Atlantikwall, as such, many resources that could be invested into keeping our garrisons well stocked have been diverted to many positions around the whole French Coast, dangerously stripping many key areas in favor of a "All-round" defensive network.

  • As a result of this Fuhrer's Directive, all garrisons in the french country-side have been stripped down to a minimum.

  • In order to counteract any sort of large scale operations by the Allies, Feldmarschall Erwin Rommel has concentrated most of the heavy guns (and especially armor) in his mobilized divisions (which in the area of Calais are the 16th Infantry and 4th Panzer Divisions).

ORDERS: Final Standing orders are to: HOLD THE ATLANTIKWALL AT ALL COSTS!

CRS INVOLVEMENT

Force on force overview of the Challenge 25 operation.

  • In order to best simulate airborne operations, CRS staff will, by hand, place a few supporting INFANTRY spawn points using another American infantry division in order to provide spawn points for the allied paratroopers, as to avoid the large turnaround times for the allied paradrops.

  • It is expected that from the moment a player spawns and heads into the plane, all the way till he gets into battle, will take about 15-20 minutes.

  • In order to avoid this large "Respawn" timer and to keep the battle interesting... "Rat Spawns" will be used for the first hour of the battle, in order to simulate a larger airborne operation.

  • After 60 minutes from the 1st paratrooper launch, all "RAT Spawns" will be removed.

  • Flags will be intentionally placed at about 60 minutes away from the frontline, to allow for a high stakes infantry combat in the city of Calais before the heavy panzers show up.

  • This is done in order to simulate the placement of German reinforcements away from the AO, and their eventual arrival when the invasion begins.
