Mobile Spawns in WWII Online play an essential role in deploying ground troops to attack and defense objectives. The most important of these is the Fortified Mobile Spawn (FMS). While the current model has served its purpose reasonably well, several lessons have been learned—leading to today’s replacement announcement.
Lessons learned about the FMS:
Easily camped.
Vulnerable to tanks using machine guns aimed at the spawn location.
Exposed to infantry camping the perimeter or infiltrating inside the object.
Unsuitable for adequate defense, as it only provides a wall facing one cardinal direction.
Damage threshold inconsistent with the player’s investment.
Limited number of truck drivers willing to deploy mobile spawns.
Easily destroyed.
Basic anti-tank and anti-air defenses are essential and must be retained.
Accessibility for deployment must remain simple and available to all trucks/haulers.
Key redesign goals of the NEW FMS include:
Incorporate lessons learned from the previous design.
Provide 360° security to reduce camping.
Allow exit only, preventing re-entry.
Include camouflage netting to reduce its visual footprint from the air.
Separate infantry and gun spawn locations to create a new deployment paradigm.
Enable infantry to use multiple fighting positions within the structure, allowing them to engage incoming targets and mount machine guns, anti-tank rifles, or bazookas/panzerschrecks over the walls.
Offer multiple escape routes to prevent exterior guns from focusing on a single point of failure.
Increase the damage threshold proportionally to its larger footprint, allowing it to endure longer and sustain gameplay flow.
Encourage direct action and open combat—reducing the “sneaky” gameplay and creating more engaging battles.

Cornered Rat Software has an extensive, global plan underway to address spawn camping across the entire game. This marks the first major step toward creating a more defensible environment and reducing camping overall.
The new Fortified Mobile Spawn (FMS) is in the final stages of testing and will be included in our upcoming 1.38.1.0 patch, scheduled for release before the end of the year.
