We'd like to welcome you all to the new www.WWIIOnline.com website deployed as of January 13th 2024, a good way to start the new year. This change is a bit more important on the surface than you might imagine, here's some of the reasons why we decided to do it:
Image refresh, and faster site load times on both desktop and mobile.
Modern website tools available to our team.
Enhanced SEO performance.
Reduces internal dependency on overall front/backend site management.
Enhanced security and constant state of upgrades on auto-pilot.
Built-in marketing and data analytics for our business team.
A swift stroke to remove technical debt.
These are the core justifications, but we're finding more as we go along. At this time most things are stabilized however there is one issue we're working on which will take a little time, which is the WWIIOnline.com PC Playgate (game launcher) is having an issue because it's serving an outdated (legacy) webpage that got broke in the conversion. We're facing some obstacles fixing that, but it is not a barrier to join the game (just keep press YES/NO on that script pop-up and it'll work until we can properly fix it). We've posted an article on our Zendesk page to help users going there to see what's going on and how to fix it as well: https://crs.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/22804902510484-Browser-out-of-date-PC-Launch-Game-
The transition went smoothly and critical services remained online. Over time we will start to add historical development notes to the site, which will allow us to add more to our blog search function. Speaking of the Blog (news), the software supporting this is so much cleaner and easier to navigate categories. Compared to where we were, this will be a great experience going forward.
We intend to add more features and functions as we go along, so keep a close eye on things. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
