Readme: 1.38.3.0

We've made a lot of advancements in the WWII Online code base over the last year, including significant lighting engine upgrades... things that haven't been touched in a very longtime. With each step forward we take, things have the potential to break.


We focused this patch on cleaning up some of the issues affecting players daily experience. Our aim is to do this routinely but we put extra emphasis on frontloading those much needed fixes and features added were very limited in scope.


The team at Cornered Rat Software is doing lots of good things and addressing core issues while continuing to execute on our 2026 roadmap. Thanks for your tremendous support. 1.38.3.0 is a quality of life / cleanup pass to improve the campaign experience and remove issues impacting players.

World War II Online 

Version 1.38.3.0 (Patch) - March 2026


This update focuses on quality-of-life improvements and resolves issues introduced during recent core game engine advancements.


Features

  • Added Str1ke, Local25 and Raus to the Fallen Soldiers Memorial.

  • FMS now spawns infantry inside cover and guns outside.

  • Improved winter theme textures.

  • Enhanced sunrise color grading.

  • Updated backend server build and deployment scripts.

  • Credits updated to reflect Q1-2026 team.


Bug Fixes

  • Frontline map filter toggle now functions properly in full-screen mode.

  • Cockpit instrument panels and gauges repaired (no longer render black).

  • Several ground vehicle instrument gauges fixed.

  • Wellington bomber dashboard and gauges brightened.

  • German rifle grenade is no longer STO and now functions properly.

  • Destroyer & Artillery (STO Rounds) now properly damage nearby bad guys vehicles.

  • Destroyer & Artillery muzzle flash special effects restored.

  • Map zoom indicator circle now scales correctly with zoom level.

  • Resolved model hierarchy loading issue at the code level.

  • Repaired game management dot commands.

  • Building rooftops now render correct damage states while flying.

  • Ju-88 LODs repaired; model now renders properly at all distances.

  • Fixed sparkling textures by adding mipmaps (e.g., water).

  • Repaired several alpha textures as part of ongoing engine upgrades.

  • Aircraft halo effects and player names now render correctly.

  • Wellington waist gunners are now visible in third-person view.
